Vank Cathedral

Church of the saintly sisters Holy Savior Cathedral) known as Vank Cathedral in Iran is located in the district of New Julfa in Esfahan. Vank in Persian means “monastry” or “convent”. It was built in 1606 and became the housing of Armenian deportees whom were settelled in Esfahan during the Ottomon war.

The interior design is marvelusly covered with Feresco and gilded carvings. The worth mentioning centeral dome depicts the biblical story of creation of the world and man’s explusion from Eden.
